From August 11 to 18 at the beautiful University of British Columbia, this conference brings world renowned speakers, lively and informative workshops, and amazing elders, middlers and youth together to share their information and experience. It is for educators, parents, volunteers, and young people. It will feature a week-long democratic school in action: Windsor House LIVE.
Don’t miss this amazing opportunity as IDEC meets in Canada for the first time in it's 16 year history.
Presenters from around the world will be attending and sharing their expertise and enthusiasm. Yaacov Hecht will stimulate and encourage you, Gabor Mate will talk about the importance of relationships, Mimsy Sadofsky will share her 40 years of experience being involved in Sudbury Valley School, Peter Prontzos will explain the nature of The Social Brain, and Helen Hughes, having taught for 50 years, will share her thoughts on what really matters.
Chris Mercogliano will be presenting on super active kids, Larry Johnson will talk about interfacing between the bureaucracy and the school, and Laura and Lesley Stein will report from the battlefield about the future of Blue Mountain School.
Jerry Mintz will tell you all about AERO and the value of networking, and Isaac Graves will report on the amazing AERO 2008 conference in Troy, NY. A delegation from Summerhill will talk about the stunning victory in court and the wonderful movie that documented it.
And that's only the beginning! People are coming from Russia, India, Palestine, Peru, Japan, Korea, Brazil, Canada, the USA, Nepal, Germany, and England to give workshops, present their work and share ideas.
There is something for everyone!
